What Data We Collect and Why

Camera and Images

What: When you use the plant scanning feature, photos or camera frames are captured to identify plants.

How it's used: Images are sent to our AI provider (Google Gemini/Google AI) for plant identification. Images are processed transiently for identification purposes and are not stored long-term by us or our AI provider.

Your control: You can deny camera permission at any time through your device settings. Without camera access, you won't be able to scan new plants, but can still care for your existing collection.

Game Data

What: Your plant collection, greenhouse progress, game settings, and preferences.

Storage: Game data is stored locally on your device. No account or login is required for core gameplay. If you uninstall the app, this data will be deleted.

Purchases and Subscriptions

What: Subscription status and in-app purchase records.

How it's processed: All payments are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements. We receive information about your purchase status (e.g., whether you have an active Pro subscription) but do not receive or store your full payment card details.

Advertising

Free version: The free version of Botago displays ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may use advertising identifiers and collect data as described in Google's Advertising Policies.

Pro version: Botago Pro subscribers enjoy a completely ad-free experience with no advertising data collection.

Referral Codes

When you use or share a referral code, we process this information to credit rewards to both the referrer and referee. This data is associated with anonymous device identifiers.

Permissions We Request

Camera: Required for the plant scanning feature. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device's Settings app under Botago.

We do not request access to your contacts, location, microphone, or photo library beyond what's needed for core app functionality.

Children's Privacy

Botago is designed to be family-friendly and safe for users of all ages. However, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction under GDPR/COPPA).

Data Retention

Game data is stored locally on your device and deleted when you uninstall the app. Referral records are retained for reward tracking purposes. Subscription records are retained as required for purchase verification and customer support.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information. All data transmitted between the app and our servers uses encryption (TLS/HTTPS). However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Our service providers (Google, Apple, RevenueCat) may transfer data internationally. By using Botago, you consent to such transfers.
